Paul Miller announces his departure from BBC Radio Solent

Paul Miller, who hosts the Late Show on Local BBC Radio stations across the south has announced he is leaving.

He told listeners on Monday evening saying he’s leaving later this year after 23 years of hosting the show from the BBC Radio Solent HQ, and 34 years working at the BBC.

Paul said he made the difficult decision to leave and was asked by managers to apply for other roles but has decided now is the right time to step back.

“As you will no doubt be aware you’ve been hearing over the last six months or so, there are going to be changes to BBC local radio, not just here in the South but up and down the country.

“Things change, nothing lasts forever.

“So after considerable thoughts and considerable discussions, I have decided that now feels the right time for me to clear out my drawers and get knotted.”

Paul doesn’t know his leaving date, but adds it won’t be soon.

The late slot on local radio is to be networked across all of England under new plans to share more programming between stations.
