BBC Radio Devon’s David Fitzgerald leaving date confirmed
David Fitzgerald has thanked his BBC Radio Devon listeners for the cards he’s been sent and confirmed his leaving date.
Last April, David was told that he was being made redundant and he also fell ill during one of his shows.
He has worked in the media for over thirty years, beginning in radio in the 1980s when he worked for a number of commercial stations. He then moved into television, first at TSW, followed by Anglia and then to Sky News in the mid-90s, before joining BBC Radio Devon, where he currently hosts the weekday mid-morning show.
Posting a short video on X, showing cards he’s been sent by listeners, David said: “I have to say, thank you very much for all the cards that have arrived here at BBC Radio Devon, it really has been most touching.”
He then revealed that he is leaving the station on Friday 20th October and has no idea what he’s going to be doing in the future. He added: “I have a sneaking suspicion you haven’t heard the last of me yet!”
