Ruairidh Mac to mark 200th Lomond Radio show with special surprise

Lomond Radio’s youngest presenter is set to mark a milestone with his 200th broadcast next Monday evening.
Twelve-year-old Ruairidh Mac will present a special edition of Lomond Radio Kids Edition on 21 July at 6pm, exactly four years after he began volunteering at the station aged just eight.
The one-hour weekly programme features music handpicked by Ruairidh, mixing newer artists like Ava Max with timeless classics such as The Beatles.
During the upcoming show, Ruairidh will receive a surprise on air — a Blue Peter Music badge awarded for his dedication to music and broadcasting through his work at Lomond Radio.
His father Charlie, who is also a presenter at the station, praised his son’s passion for entertaining others. “He really enjoys making people happy. I am delighted that he has been one of the few lucky young people to be awarded this special Blue Peter Badge,” he said.
Lomond Radio Director Paul Lucas commented on Ruairidh’s progress over the years. “You can really hear how much Ruairidh has grown in confidence since starting his show. We are so proud to have Ru as part of the Lomond Radio family and honoured to be part of his young radio journey,” Paul said.
He added that the 200th episode would mark more than just a number. “Whether he celebrated by highlighting his top-loved tracks or involving Dad for a chat, it’d be a sweet moment showing how far his confidence and skills have come.”
*Lomond Radio Kids Edition* airs Monday evenings from 6pm to 7pm and is available on DAB across Dumbarton, Inverclyde and Glasgow, online at lomondradio.co.uk.
