The Voice radio toy appeal delivers thousands

More than two thousand donated toys are now reaching children across North Devon following the latest appeal backed by The Voice.

The Voice and The Voice 2 had donations collected from 14 drop-off locations and distributed to a wide range of community organisations and services across North Devon.

The appeal began in mid November and has now completed its fifth year, with this year’s response exceeding expectations. Donations included a large number of high-value items such as drones and smart speakers, alongside toys for children of all ages, with the total estimated to be worth more than £10,000.

The stations worked with local partners to ensure the toys were delivered to causes supporting families and children who may otherwise struggle at Christmas, keeping the focus firmly on local benefit and practical support within the community.

Managing Director Jim Trevelyan said the scale of support reflected the strength of local backing for the stations and the appeal. He said: “The people of North Devon have really exceeded everyone’s expectations this year.

These toys are being distributed to so many great causes across North Devon, in the hope of putting a smile on some children’s faces.”

Jim also paid tribute to those involved in making the appeal possible, including station staff, businesses hosting donation points and NHS Devon, which supported the campaign as overall sponsor. He added that the appeal reflects the stations’ wider role in serving the area and responding to community need.

Both stations say the Toy Appeal has become a key part of their calendar, providing a practical way for listeners to support families locally, while strengthening links between the radio service and organisations working on the ground across North Devon.
