YO1 Radio appoints Nick Hancock as MD

Nick Hancock has been appointed Managing Director of YO1 Radio and Media.

The move sees Nick take full responsibility for the leadership and development of YO1 Radio and Media, with a focus on expanding the station into a broader multimedia brand while strengthening partnerships with local businesses across York and North Yorkshire.

Nick brings more than 25 years’ experience in radio and media management, with a background in commercial content creation, relationship building and team leadership. His role will also include developing new marketing and community initiatives, building on the station’s established presence and reputation in the area.

The appointment follows Nick joining the station’s Breakfast Show in September, which will continue alongside his new management responsibilities.

As part of the leadership changes, current Managing Director Wayne Chadwick moves into the position of Executive Chairman, where he will focus on brand and long term vision while continuing to lead the Board of Directors.

Wayne said Nick’s experience would be central to the next phase of growth, adding that his knowledge is important as the business continues to expand the range of media services offered to local clients.

Operations Director Dave Parker will step down from his role but will remain involved with the station, continuing to develop community links and oversee the growing work placement programme. He said the brand is widely recognised across York and North Yorkshire and that there is an expectation of further audience and community growth next year.

Nick described his appointment as a privilege, saying it was an opportunity to lead an ambitious team based in York, and confirmed plans to continue serving listeners while delivering results for clients as the business develops further this year.
