Broadcaster Duncan Barkes joins Nation’s Easy Radio

Duncan Barkes is returning to Hampshire radio with a new late-night programme on Nation Easy Radio.

The broadcaster and journalist will host The Friday Night Music Club from 10pm each Friday, more than 30 years after first broadcasting to the county in 1995 on Ocean Sound Classic Hits and Light and Easy South Coast Radio.

Nation Easy Radio is available across Hampshire and Dorset on DAB, as well as on 107.2FM in Winchester, 107.4FM in Portsmouth and 107.8FM in Southampton. The station can also be heard via smart speakers and the Nation Player app.

The new show will feature relaxing songs from the past six decades, alongside listener dedications and memories, with a focus on established singers and bands. Duncan joins presenters including Kate Weston, Andy Jackson, Stuart McGinley and Gary Parker on the station’s schedule.

Jason Bryant, founder of Nation Broadcasting, said: “Nation Easy Radio is fast becoming the choice of listeners in the South who want to hear familiar easy songs on a radio station stuffed full of local voices who live and breathe the area. Duncan’s addition to Friday nights means we have a show that nicely rounds off the week and eases listeners into the weekend.”

Duncan said: “Late night radio has a special place in my heart, so it’s great to be joining the station to play some fabulous tunes after dark.”
