BBC Radio 1 returns to Europe’s dance music relay

BBC Radio 1 will share dance music from the UK with broadcasters across Europe once again this year on Friday 25 September.

Europe’s Biggest Dance Show brings together twelve stations in eleven countries, with each showcasing its national dance scene. Danny Howard opens the broadcast on Radio 1 at 6pm BST for thirty minutes before the programme moves to its European Broadcasting Union partners.

The participating stations include RTÉ 2FM in Ireland, Sweden’s Sveriges Radio P3, Norway’s NRK mP3, Belgium’s Studio Brussel and Ukraine’s Radio Promin. Germany has two stations taking part, 1LIVE and Fritz. Broadcasters from Finland, Estonia, Austria and the Netherlands complete the line-up alongside BBC Radio 1.

Aled Haydn Jones, Head of Radio 1, said: “Europe’s Biggest Dance Show is a fantastic example of radio’s power to bring people together through music.” He said the programme would give Radio 1 listeners the chance to discover dance music from across the continent.

Danny will also host a warm-up show on Radio 1 Dance from 5pm. The main programme can be heard from 6pm on website and website.

The collaboration began in 2019 and returns this year with stations sharing music across the same European broadcast.
