Radioplayer gives stations a view of in-car listening

Broadcasters now have the chance to see how people listen to their stations in connected cars across DAB, FM and streaming.

Radioplayer has added an In-Car module to Radioplayer Insight, with data processed within minutes. It shows member broadcasters where and when listening takes place, how long it lasts, which stations are chosen and whether the audio is delivered by DAB, FM or IP streaming.

The module also identifies the broadcast bearer delivering the experience, giving stations information about listening through transmission infrastructure as well as streams.

Radioplayer says its technology is integrated across 19 car brands, which have begun connecting their primary radio experiences to the new analytics module. The In-Car view sits alongside Out-of-Car analytics in the website dashboard and is available to every member broadcaster at no additional cost.

Radioplayer CEO Yann Legarson said: “Radioplayer Insight returns the value of that delivery directly back to radio stations, with data no individual broadcaster could generate alone.”

Eugenio La Teana, Head of Data Innovation & AI Strategy, said: “We turn complex data from connected cars into clear, usable intelligence in real time, including bearer information that connects broadcast listening to transmission infrastructure.”

The dashboard also includes tools for improving station metadata and controlling how stations appear across connected cars and other platforms.
