Mark Barber to step down from Radiocentre

Radiocentre Planning Director Mark Barber is to step down after more than 25 years.

Mark joined the Radio Advertising Bureau in 2001 following a career as a strategic planner working with clients across a range of media agencies.

During his time as Planning Director, he has been responsible for developing research including Radiogauge, ROI Multiplier, Generation Audio, Re-evaluating Media and High Gain Audio.

He received an MBE in the Queen’s New Year Honours in 2015 for services to commercial radio.

Radiocentre CEO Matt Payton said: “Mark has been a joy to work with over the years, as well as a fantastic source of knowledge and inspiration on all matters relating to audio and advertising.”

Mark said he considers himself “extremely fortunate” to have spent the last 25 years working with colleagues and others across the industry on defining and demonstrating the role and effectiveness of audio for advertisers.

He added: “I find myself having worked full-time in advertising and media for over 44 years now, so this feels like an appropriate moment to step back and consider a more fractional approach in the next phase of my life.”

Mark plans to spend more time on his non-executive role with independent media agency December19, while also considering new challenges and spending more time on music and writing.

Radiocentre says it will announce further changes to strengthen its advertising and commercial advocacy team in due course.
