PlayIt Software launches free station health report

Radio station managers can now assess six areas of their operations using a free online report launched by PlayIt Software.

The assessment asks managers a short series of questions about how their station operates before providing scores for automation and scheduling, remote working, presenter workflow, reliability and resilience, operational efficiency, and management and control.

Each report identifies the station’s biggest opportunity for improvement and recommends three practical steps, with results available immediately and a copy sent by email.

More than 250 reports were completed during the first week, with automation and scheduling emerging as the lowest-scoring area for 27% of stations.

Operational efficiency was the main area for improvement for 22% of respondents, followed by remote working at 20%.

The average overall score was 63%, with only 12% of stations achieving 80% or higher.

PlayIt Software says the assessment concentrates on station operations rather than individual software products, meaning most recommendations can be followed regardless of the playout system being used.

Jason Allen, Managing Director and Founder of PlayIt Software, said: “The report tells a station which area to work on first and gives three steps to get started. Most of the advice works with any playout software, so you don’t need to use PlayIt to get something useful out of it.”

The Cambridge-based company has been developing radio software since 2012, including its Windows-based PlayIt Live playout system, which is available free with optional paid upgrades for additional features.

Station managers can complete the assessment and receive their report via the website.
