Communicorp launches Sport Social for Smart Speakers

A new audio content service from Communicorp-owned Voiceworks is offering updates from all 20 Premier League Clubs on smart devices.

Sport Social is billing itself as the first voice-activated Premier League content service for Amazon Alexa, Google Home and other smart speaker platforms.

Over a third of smart speaker users are asking for sport content to be made more available on their devices, which is the gap Sport Social aims to fill by providing fans across the world with to access audio content in the form of short daily updates, specific to their favourite Premier League club.

The news is voiced by Voiceworks’ own in-house team of journalists and broadcasters, providing content such as team line ups, post-match reviews for every Premier League game, and daily podcasts.

Jim Salveson, Head of Sport Social, commented: “By simply using the phrase “launch Sport Social”, smart speaker owners will be granted access to the world of Sport Social and able to tailor content to their own desires. As well as this, the daily podcast will invite football experts onto the show to discuss the biggest news from the Premier League that day, with full match reviews available just one hour after a game has concluded.”

Sophie Hind, Managing Director of Voiceworks, added: “The opportunity for voice activation is at an all-time high with speech recognition now at 95%.

“It’s estimated that half of all searches will be made via voice-technology next year so it’s crucial that brands consider their voice-activated offering and strategy. With our broad range of technology, search and broadcast skills, Voiceworks can offer differentiated services that help clients develop all elements of voice experience.”

Sport Social launched on August 10th to coincide with the beginning of the Premier League season.

Communicorp previously used the name “Sports Social” on their Manchester classic rock radio station, XS Manchester, but came to an end at the close of the last football season.
