Radio Borders to rebrand as Greatest Hits Radio from April
Bauer is moving Radio Borders away from the Hits Radio format and rebranding it to Greatest Hits Radio.
Current Radio Borders Breakfast hosts Gregor & Lynsey will take over Tay FM Breakfast, replacing Hollie Brown & Gregor Davidson, who are leaving the station.
Radio Borders will be the eighth station in Scotland to change name this April, along with Clyde 2, Forth 2, MFR 2, Northsound 2, Tay 2, West Sound in Ayrshire and West Sound in Dumfries & Galloway.
It will carry Ewen & Cat at Breakfast, Ken Bruce on mid-mornings, Webster in the afternoon and Simon Mayo on Drivetime.
Radio Borders recently vacated its premises in Galashiels to be based with Forth in Edinburgh.
Gary Stein, Group Programme Director for the Hits Radio Brand Network said “We’ve received an absolutely incredible response to the news that Ken Bruce will be joining the Greatest Hits Radio family from April this year and have identified an opportunity to bring this new show and the rest of our exciting new schedule to the Radio Borders audience.
“With a new name and new playlist, we are sure listeners will enjoy having access to Scotland’s first national commercial station with all the local news, and information and local advertising opportunities that they already appreciate.”
Victoria Easton-Riley, Content Director for the Hits Radio Network across Scotland added, “Now we have announced the weekday presenter line-up we are edging closer to launch day on 3rd April. To have legendary broadcasters such as Ken Bruce and Simon Mayo alongside other household weekday favourites already familiar to Scottish listeners such as Ewen and Cat and Stuart Webster mean that the station will truly kick-off with a bang later this year.
“A special thanks to all the presenters across our stations who have helped us get to this point as we enter this very exciting next phase of commercial radio in Scotland, and that includes Hollie and Gregor who have done a tremendous job hosting Tay FM Breakfast since October 2021 and we wish them well.”
The full weekday schedule across Greatest Hits Radio stations in Scotland will be as follows from April 3rd, 2023:
