The BBC has secured exclusive audio rights to broadcast the Rugby World Cup 2023 in France, which begins on Friday 8 September.

All of the matches, including all home nations matches, will be available on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra via BBC Sounds, the BBC Sport Website and the app.

BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Radio Wales, BBC Radio Cymru, BBC Radio Ulster and BBC Radio Foyle will produce bespoke output for their nations.

The BBC Sport website will also provide live coverage and behind-the-scenes updates as the tournament progresses.

Heidi Dawson, BBC Radio 5 Live Controller, says: “We are thrilled to once again secure the audio rights for the Rugby World Cup.

“We will have live radio coverage on 5 Live and 5 Sports Extra, as well as a podcast on BBC Sounds from the Rugby Union Daily team, and extensive digital content to ensure all the action is brought to rugby fans across the UK.”

Sir Bill Beaumont, World Rugby Chairman, adds: “We are delighted that BBC have secured the UK audio rights for Rugby World Cup 2023.

“With almost 100 days to go, France 2023 is shaping-up to be the greatest celebration of rugby and togetherness in the sport’s 200th birthday year and the BBC’s expert storytelling, reporting, commentary and analysis will ensure listeners are at the heart of the celebrations.”
