Bournemouth broadcaster Andy Freeman has passed away
Broadcaster, voiceover artist and owner of Get Real Productions, Andy Freeman has passed away.
A post on Andy’s Facebook page from one of his friends said: “It is with deep sadness that my oldest friend left his family and I this afternoon having been admitted to Bournemouth Hospital on Saturday evening last after an unexpected cardiac arrest at home.
“Once in the amazing care of the ICU, we cherished hopes of his recovery, but it was not to be, but we are comforted in knowing that his death was peaceful, he was in no pain and, that he succumbed unknowingly after a wonderful day on Saturday in the company of good friends.”
From Bournemouth, Andy began his radio career on the Middle East pirate station, The Voice of Peace. He moved to London to work at Radio Top Shop Oxford Circus while also freelancing at Chiltern Radio.
Andy’s next move was to Gibraltar to work for BFBS, then for the short-lived Radio Radio known as “The Super Station”.
Closer to home, Andy worked in Torquay as the first-afternoon presenter on Gemini Radio, he did shifts at Bay Radio, and travel on BBC Radio Solent and Wessex FM.
As a regular voiceover artist, Andy set up Get Real Productions with a studio in Dorset where he worked with many radio stations and e-learning companies. Although his business took up much of his time, Andy continued with his first love, radio by presenting a couple of shows a week on Hot Gold Radio.
