Greatest Hits Radio backs music mental health week

Greatest Hits Radio is asking listeners to share songs that improve their mood as part of Mental Health Awareness Week.

The Bauer Media station has partnered with the Mental Health Foundation for its Say It Through A Song campaign, encouraging audiences to submit tracks that bring them joy or positive feelings.

Listeners are being invited to send in their favourite songs through the Greatest Hits Radio website or by email ahead of the station’s Say It Through A Song Weekender, which begins on Friday 15 May.

The initiative will also feature contributions from presenters including Ken Bruce, Kate Thornton and Simon Mayo, who will share the music that lifts their own mood.

The station says the campaign is designed to encourage people to express emotions through music and highlight the positive impact songs can have on mental wellbeing.

Gary Stein, Director of Audio for Bauer Media Audio UK, said: “Audio, more than any other medium, has the power to connect, uplift and communicate.”

He added that the campaign would encourage listeners to “channel the music to help lift their mood, uplift others and express themselves”.

Mental Health Awareness Week runs from Monday 11 May to Sunday 17 May across the UK.
