DevonAir Radio marks 20 years since Bay FM debut

DevonAir Radio is celebrating two decades since the first Bay FM broadcast from Exmouth on 11 September 2006.

The original trial transmission was the beginning of a project created by Andy Green and Julie Green, who went on to spend seven years pursuing a full time FM licence.

Their work included licence applications, setbacks and other challenges before the station began broadcasting full time on 106.4FM in 2013.

Bay FM later became DevonAir Radio, while continuing its focus on providing local radio for the communities it serves.

The station says its output over the past 20 years has included thousands of hours of programmes, alongside interviews, competitions and outside broadcasts.

Andy, Julie and the DevonAir Radio team said: “Thank you.”

The message was directed to everyone who has listened, presented programmes, volunteered, advertised, sponsored or otherwise supported the station since its first trial broadcast.

DevonAir Radio says listeners have remained at the centre of the service throughout its development and that there is more to come following the anniversary.
