Nation Radio Yorkshire goes local all day

Nation Radio Yorkshire will switch to an entirely local daytime programming line-up from Monday 5th January 2026.
The move sees Yorkshire-based presenter Griffo taking over the weekday mid-morning slot from 10am to 1pm.
The new schedule also includes Matt Hutchinson moving into the afternoon slot, with Alex Duffy continuing on Breakfast and Sean Goldsmith on Drivetime.
Together, the line-up means all daytime output on Nation Radio Yorkshire will be presented locally, something the station says sets it apart from both commercial competitors and BBC services in the area.
Griffo said he was pleased to be extending his role at the station, describing Nation Radio Yorkshire as a good fit after many years broadcasting in the region. He pointed to his long connection with Yorkshire audiences and familiarity with the music played on the station.
Nation’s Group Programme Director Neil Greenslade said Griffo had already made an impression through his weekend work, adding that moving him into mid-mornings felt like a natural progression for both the presenter and the station.
From a commercial perspective, the station says the commitment to local presenters strengthens its offer to advertisers. Helen Nolan, Commercial Director for Yorkshire, said the approach provides a clear alternative at a time when other stations are reducing locally made content, giving businesses a platform rooted in the communities they serve.
The changes underline Nation Radio Yorkshire’s strategy of investing in local voices throughout the day, reinforcing its focus on regional relevance as the station heads into this year.
