BBC CWR names Lorna Bailey as its new weekday Breakfast host

Lorna Bailey is to take over the BBC CWR Breakfast show from Monday 9th March.
A familiar voice across Coventry and Warwickshire, she is also known from BBC Midlands Today.
Lorna says: “I’m absolutely buzzing to get started on BBC CWR Breakfast! As a proud Cov kid, it’s an absolute privilege to have the chance to wake up Coventry and Warwickshire every morning on BBC CWR Breakfast.
“I’ve lived in the area all my life so to now have the honour to present the breakfast show is a dream come true.
“I’m no stranger to an early alarm; I’ve been up at 4am on a Saturday for the weekend breakfast show for more than a decade so I’m ready for it.”
Phil Upton, the outgoing Breakfast host, will move to evenings with a new sports programme, Total Sport, from Tuesday 17th March.
The show will air on BBC CWR, BBC Hereford & Worcester, and BBC Radio Shropshire from 6-7pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, then 7-10pm on those stations plus BBC Radio WM and BBC Radio Stoke, except during live football coverage. Thursdays will see Phil on BBC CWR from 6-7pm.
Other changes to the schedule mean Saturday Breakfast with Phil Upton is from 6-10am on BBC CWR and BBC Radio WM.
Chris Pegg, Executive Editor at BBC CWR and BBC Radio WM, said: “I’m delighted that Lorna is joining the Breakfast show. She brings a joy and passion to every broadcast she presents, being a Coventry kid, she is the perfect person to brighten up the mornings for our audiences across the region.
“I’d also like to thank Phil Upton for all he has done with the show, and I can’t wait to hear the great sports stories he is going to bring for his new evening slot across the West Midlands. I just know it will be something special for fans.”
