Date change for BBC Radio 2 in the Park in Stirling

BBC Radio 2’s flagship live music event in Stirling will now take place later in the year after concerns from the festivals sector.

Organisers have moved the three-day Radio 2 in the Park from August to September following discussions with local stakeholders, including the Scottish Independent Festival Association, about the impact on other events in the area.

The actual dates have not been announced, but will be one of the weekends in September 2026 rather than the previously announced 7 to 9 August.

Party at the Palace is taking place near Edinburgh that weekend already.

The BBC says the change is intended to support the wider summer schedule of independent festivals across Scotland, while still bringing the event to City Park in Stirling for the first time.

Helen Thomas said: “Our aim has always been to bring a brilliant event to Stirling, providing value for Scottish audiences and making a positive impact on the local community.”

Helen added the decision followed close work with the Scottish Independent Festival Association to find a suitable timing, and said the BBC wanted to confirm the change early for those planning to attend.

A spokesperson for the association said it was “grateful to the BBC for the thoughtful way they’ve engaged to consider the right timing”.

New dates, artist announcements and ticket details are due to be confirmed, with coverage planned across BBC television, BBC iPlayer, BBC Sounds and Radio 2.
