Small-scale DAB multiplex launched in east Dorset

The small-scale DAB service for Verwood and the surrounding area in Dorset has gone live.
The service is operated by Forest FM and launched shortly after the community radio station marked 20 years on air.
Forest FM founder Steve Saville told RadioToday that the station applied to operate the multiplex to manage costs and protect its digital future.
He said: “Setting up the multiplex was a real challenge and a steep learning curve, but we finally made it.”
The transmitter is based in Verwood and covers the northern tip of the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole conurbation, where two small-scale DAB services have also launched in the last couple of years.
The new Verwood multiplex carries Bournemouth One, Forest FM, Hot Radio, Hot Gold, News Radio UK, Radio Caroline and Salisbury Radio. Steve said further capacity remains available for other stations interested in joining the service.
