Kirsten O’Brien leaves BBC Radio Berkshire for Radio 2 job

Kirsten O’Brien has left her weekday mid-morning show on BBC Radio Berkshire to take up a new role on BBC Radio 2.

She will begin reading afternoon travel reports on the station from Monday, following eight years at BBC Radio Berkshire.

On her final 10am to 2pm show on Friday, Kirsten thanked listeners and colleagues, reflecting on her time at the station and the variety of stories she has covered.

She said: “It’s eight years I’ve been here… I’ve really, really enjoyed it.” She also thanked the production team and contributors behind the scenes, describing her time as “absolutely brilliant”.

Her departure was marked by a surprise appearance from former CBBC colleagues Dick and Dom, who joined the programme live and joked about taking over her slot.

Kirsten also confirmed that Brigitte Tetta will take over the mid-morning programme on the station.
