Chelmsford presenters honoured at CCR awards

Three Chelmsford Community Radio presenters have been recognised for their contribution to local broadcasting.

Will McKenzie, Scott Page and Greg Page were celebrated at CCR 104.4FM’s inaugural awards event, where Deputy Mayor Councillor Julia Frascona recognised their work with the volunteer-run station.

Will, who presents The Will Show, received a special award to mark his 500th programme. Scott and Greg, twin brothers who present In The Middle, were given the Outstanding Contribution award for their commitment to the inclusive community station.

All three presenters have learning disabilities and have become familiar voices on air. Their recognition reflects CCR’s work to create broadcasting opportunities for local people of all abilities.

Chelmsford Community Radio was founded more than 13 years ago and is run entirely by volunteers. It has more than 50 presenters aged between 13 and 75, offering training, confidence-building and a route into broadcasting for people across the city.

Volunteer Director Matthew Eaves said: “Will, Scott and Greg represent everything Chelmsford Community Radio stands for. We’ve helped hundreds of people find their voice and be fully themselves on air, without judgement or fear.”

Matthew added: “Community radio is about belonging, inclusion and celebrating local people. Their commitment shines through every week, and our listeners genuinely love them.”

The station broadcasts from the Anglia Ruskin University campus and relies on support from local businesses, grants, donations and membership subscriptions.
