Sessions and venue announced for Podcast Futures event

Fresh insights into podcast consumption and trends will be one of the highlights of a new international conference hosted by Podcast Radio in February.

The free Podcast Futures event has also announced its venue – Central Hall, Westminster, London – on 22nd February.

One of the main sessions will be presented by Laura Ivey of esteemed US company Edison Research. Laura will highlight findings from The Infinite Dial UK, Edison’s signature study on digital media consumer behaviour, and The Podcast Consumer Tracking Report, Edison’s ongoing measurement of podcast consumption to contextualise podcast listening in the overall media landscape.

Podcast Futures organiser Lee Cornell says: “Laura will also be talking about device usage and listening location as well as delving into Edison’s most-listened-to podcast rankings. These insights are highly valuable in pointing the way to the future of podcasting.”

The conference theme is Getting Podcasts Heard and is the first in a series of Podcast Radio thought leadership events. Sponsors so far include Triton Digital, Veritonic and Targetspot.

The final line-up of speakers will be announced in two weeks.

Gerry Edwards, CEO of Podcast Radio, says: “There is so much choice of podcast listening out there. We’re in the business of marketing and promoting podcasts using the trust that listeners have in radio.

“The biggest challenge facing the industry right now, whether you’re a corporate player or an indie, is quite simply getting your podcast heard by people. We’re a part of that solution.”

Podcast Radio launched two years ago and can be heard on DAB+ in London, Surrey, Manchester and Birmingham as well as worldwide via smart speakers and its app. More than half its listeners are located in the US.

The company is currently raising investment for expansion into the US and Australia as well as to enhance content.

In-person attendance is limited to 250 people on a first-come-first-served basis. For details of the conference and how to register, go to thepodcastradio.co.uk/podcast-futures
