Radio DGH welcomes former presenters back on air

Former Radio DGH members returned to the Eastbourne station this weekend to present special shows for its anniversary year.

The programmes brought back broadcasters who began their careers at the hospital radio station, including Rik Scott, Andy Knight, Chris Brooks and Russ Williams.

Rik and Andy went on to work at Southern FM, while Rik also worked at Power FM. Chris is now at Radio Essex and Russ is at Greatest Hits Radio 70s, following roles at Virgin Radio and Absolute Radio.

Former presenters who have helped shape the station over the years also returned, including founder member Adrian Tongue. The Mayor of Eastbourne, Councillor Margaret Bannister, visited to mark the occasion.

Radio DGH is celebrating 50 years since its launch at Eastbourne District General Hospital in 1976. The weekend also marked 75 years since hospital radio began in the town in 1951.

Programme controller Shaun Crowhurst said: “To celebrate two anniversaries in the same year is truly unique and incredibly special.”
