Nation Broadcasting returns to Bauer for local news content

Nation Broadcasting has closed its Network News service and returned to Bauer for its local news bulletins.

Nation Network News started in 2022 when the company removed Bauer branding from its frequencies, following the end of a franchise agreement to use the Hits Radio and Greatest Hits Radio names.

Under the revised arrangement, Bauer will provide local news content tailored to individual areas served by Nation stations, including weather.

RadioToday understands the bulletins are the same as those already broadcast on Bauer stations in the same areas.

Nation also recently started taking Bauer’s networked competition, Make Me A Winner, across its radio services.

The move means Bauer now provides Nation with competitions, national sales, and local news, whilst Nation continues to invest in local and regional programming and presenters on its FM and digital services.

Nation Broadcasting’s Managing Director, Martin Mumford told RadioToday: “As part of our 2026 development plan, we are running enhanced local and regional news content on our stations with bulletins provided by the relevant local news teams at Bauer.”

A Bauer Media spokesperson added: “As part of an extension of our existing relationship with Nation Broadcasting we are now supplying our award-winning local news content to Nation listeners across the UK.”
