Bauer brands head for Fire TV Channels

Bauer Media Audio is taking UK and Irish radio brands and podcasts onto Fire TV Channels.

The company has become an official launch video content provider for the Amazon service, which is already live in the United States and is due to roll out in the UK, Germany and Canada in the coming months.

The agreement will make Bauer Media Audio video and video podcast content available to Fire TV users without subscription barriers, giving the broadcaster another route to audiences away from its own platforms.

UK channels and shows included at launch are Hits Radio, KISS, Pete Wicks’ Man Made, Katherine Ryan’s What’s My Age Again and Lost in Translation.

In Ireland, the line-up includes Off The Ball, Newstalk, Talking Bollox, Mark Mehigan’s Weekly Roast, Stall It and Family Flowers Only.

Bauer says the move is part of its strategy to grow its audiovisual output and develop as a multi-platform content business, with connected TV offering new distribution and advertising opportunities.

Tobias Nielsen, SVP of Digital, Bauer Media Audio, said: “Launching on Amazon Fire TV marks an important step in scaling our audiovisual distribution and unlocking new commercial opportunities across connected TV.”

Charlie Brookes, Director of Digital, Bauer Media Audio UK, said the partnership would allow Bauer to bring audiovisual content to new audiences with changing consumption habits.
