Nicky Campbell off-air after being rushed to hospital

BBC Radio 5 Live breakfast show co-host Nicky Campbell missed his programme Tuesday morning after being taken ill at home and admitted to Salford Royal Hospital.

In a tweet, Nicky Campbell said: “Good morning from Salford Royal Hospital where I was rushed last night after a kidney stone attack. Blimey. Some pain that! Amazing care from compassionate professionals.”

Chris Warburton was called in as a last minute substitute for Nicky and presented this morning’s show alongside Rachel Burden.

Rachel told listeners she had been in touch with Nicky and he was recovering well.
