Wessex FM Senior Journalist Justin Gladdis has died

Justin Gladdis, Senior Journalist at Wessex FM, has died at the age of 47.

Justin, who has previously worked at Fire and Isle of Wight Radio, was also the PA announcer at Southampton FC, a post he held for 18 years.

He was recovering from life-saving surgery in April this year and looking forward to his 19th season with The Saints.

Wessex FM Managing Director Rick Simmonds paid tribute: “Justin was one of the most warm-hearted, loyal and often amusing colleagues anyone could hope to work alongside.

“As a journalist, he broke hundreds of important news stories for Dorset and as a person, had a wealth of friends both within and beyond the building who will miss him terribly.

“He has left an indelible mark on all of our lives here – and our hearts go out to his family and friends.”

Head of News at Wessex FM, Maria Greenwood, said: “Justin was an exceptional newsreader and brilliant journalist who just loved his job. He was a real character who made as all laugh.

“He cared greatly about the people he met through his work, and was a kind and caring soul.

“He’ll be deeply missed.”

A message from Isle of Wight Radio reads: “We are shocked and upset to hear the news and send our condolences to his family and friends.”

Southampton FC tweeted: “It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of our long-time PA announcer, Justin Gladdis.

“The sympathies of all of us at #SaintsFC go out to his family and friends. Rest in peace, Justin.”
