End of West FM brand coming as Clyde 1 expands to Ayrshire
West FM will rebrand as Clyde 1 Ayrshire and will broadcast the full Clyde 1 output from September.
The move by Bauer means the end of the West FM name after 27 years, and the end of the originally known West Sound radio service which launched in 1981, which itself changed to GHR last year.
Ali and Michael in the morning will also come to an end, replaced by Bowie at Breakfast, along with a local weekend show.
Bauer Media Audio Content Director for Scotland and Northern Ireland, Victoria Easton-Riley said: “We already know how popular Clyde 1 is across Ayrshire, whether it be calls into GBX or Superscoreboard, competition entries or shout outs, we always get such fantastic responses and interactions from listeners across the region.
“With Clyde 1 ‘s 50th birthday this year, and more listeners tuning in to celebrate with us, it felt like the perfect time to launch Clyde 1 across Ayrshire.
“With Bowie at Breakfast taking over from Ali and Michael in the morning I want to take this opportunity to thank them both for their great work on that show.”
Clyde 1 Ayrshire will retain local news, travel, weather and continue to work closely with local businesses. In addition, the station will continue to support local vulnerable and disadvantaged children through Cash for Kids.
The change will take place on Monday the 16th of September at 6am.
